The gap hag who created the realm finally has a chance to appear. Yukari really just can't help herself. Always has to appear menacing and use some other event as an excuse to appear. For all her appearances she makes to seem like an unfeeling monster, she does genuinely have strong feelings about Gensokyo and people alike. She wants to be feared, but at the same time she really wants to make friends and take care of those she cares about. This leads her to very dumb actions, such as causing problems for others in an effort to become friends or hiding the fact she's helping take care of Reimu. The only ones who really see her true nature often are Ran and Chen. Some others know of her true nature though Yukari still tries to hide it from them. Perhaps at one point another had been trusted enough to see her act freely, but that connection is long lost, even if the science era in which that connection existed is yet to arrive.
