Do you remember a few years ago now, there was a little bit of a trend of people going back to 'dumb phones.'?

Is that even possible nowadays? There's quite a lot of things you need a smartphone for. Some online payments, signing up to stuff, healthcare providers, work-related apps (security, logins, shift apps etc etc) etc

Is there any going back from this?
I mean on a significant scale, for most of the population.

I recommend you read Against the Machine by Paul Kingsnorth. He discusses this for the UK/Ireland a bit but he lives now in rural Ireland. I did an audio review of it two tapes ago.

I think the only solution would be to have 2 phones, one with all the essential shit you need on it and the other, a "Dumb phone". Only use your "Essential phone", when you absolutely have to and your other one, when not. Like if you're going out for the day or something like that and you know you w...

Our western society dictates the need for a digital device. Only the nostratti have achieved such inner peace that they have no need for a “smart” phone

Yes. Don't use any of those services. Only use services you can access through web portals on Linux or an ephemeral Linux VM.

Even the rereleased Nokias have 4G and they use the classic OS

I was told the rich don't need keys either.

Use a computer. If anybody asks you to do something then tell people you don't have a smartphone. I'm confident that you can get pretty far by just being annoying and making people do just a little extra work to accomidate you.

I am genuinely sick of it all. For the most part I pay cash for things and when forced I will use a card. Mobile payments can fuck off, install an app fuck off, but the 2fa bollocks creeps for stuff online sometimes. However sometimes in the last few years I have noticed you now need to install an ...

Doesn't matter if it's possible for most of the population imo We will rid ourselves of the malware at all cost, and that's why we're survivors

I member. Seemed like a hipster thing to me at the time, "getting a flip phone, like old times," as they always made sure to tell everyone. Now, I think they may have been onto something. Interestingly, Apple is rumored to be releasing a "flip phone" soon.

Yeah you can buy "dumb phones" here but they a technically just a smart phone with a limited operating system and physical buttons not like the older ones
