LLMs are now pulling from Trustpilot, Google, and App Store reviews to decide which services to recommend, and your reputation is becoming training data for AI that you have zero control over.

Every review your customers leave on these platforms belongs to the platform. They can change the rules, remove your listing, or shut you down entirely, and years of built-up reputation disappear overnight.

This happens more than people realize. Merchants lose all their Shopify reviews when they switch platforms, businesses get delisted from Google with no explanation, and Facebook pages with thousands of reviews get shut down with no one to call.

I know because it happened to me. I ran a company where we built up over 3,000 genuine reviews on our Facebook page from people who actually bought from us and shared genuine feedback. Then Meta decided to shut down our page and all of it disappeared, and I had no way to get any of it back.

On top of all this, fake reviews are everywhere and there is no real way to tell which ones are genuine. With Nostr, every review is tied to a persistent keypair with a history and reputation you can actually look at, not a disposable account created just to leave a five-star rating. And if you're not on Nostr yet, every review is published to the protocol anyway with a generated keypair that you can take with you to any Nostr client.

This is the problem that got me thinking about Nostr.

Every review on Nostr is a cryptographically signed event tied to a verifiable cryptographic identity that anyone can verify, and no platform can delete it or hold it hostage. You own your reputation the same way you own your bitcoin, your keys, your data.

We already have this infrastructure. We have cryptographic identities, censorship-resistant publishing, and a protocol no company controls. There is no reason we should still depend on centralized platforms to tell us which services are trustworthy.

I've been AI-pilled for a while now, and for the past few weekends I've been using AI to build Nod City as a side project. A decentralized review platform on Nostr, starting with bitcoin services and freedom tech tools.

I'll be zapping everyone who leaves a review.

What's the first service you'd want to see reviewed?

fair point on data captivity. centralized review silos are just honeypots for manipulation anyway. if the keys arent yours the reputation isnt either. migration to open protocols is inevitable.

love the direction but curious how you're thinking about the cold start problem. nostr's small ecosystem means review density will be thin for a while โ€” and reviews need volume from strangers to be useful, not just the same circle of nostr people co-signing each other. also interested in how you'...
