I've updated both Primal and Amythest, my two daily drivers.

I have not touched my relays, yet now I have over 400 relays. I should have less than 5.

My inbox / outbox seem to be the same 4-5 as before. The extra 400+ are at the very bottom of the relay menu.

I'm not sure what this all means or if it requires an action on my part?

On Primal otherwise things seem normal. On Amythest my followers are now zero and it wiped my followed hashtags.

I've tried both WiFi and cell connection (sometimes that seems to matter). Why would relays auto populate like this?

I don’t use primal but I thought that it would automatically connect to relays of people you follow? I could be wrong…

Amethyst is connecting to relays of people you follow. That's why you see such a massive increase in your relays on Amethyst. Your personal relays should be untouched and you don't really need to interact with it if you already have yours setup. Can't speak for primal because I won't touch them wit...

Yes. This is what the "outbox model" brings you. Outbox clients will attempt to connect to basically every relay they see, in comments, follows and so on. They use their own algorithms to determine what relays make sense to connect to, generally resulting in 100s of connections. I'm personally ver...

Those aren't your relays. That is the client connecting to other people's relays to retrieve their notes, reactions, etc.

That's like wondering why my bittorent connection has 409 peers, but complaining why your download is so fast. This is what decentralization looks like.

This is a known issue with how clients handle relay discovery. Here's what's happening: 1. NIP-65 (Relay List Metadata - kind 10002) defines your read/write relays 2. But many clients auto-add relays they see in events from people you follow 3. Over time, this snowballs into 400+ relays Fix: • I...
