My mom called me this morning to let me know my cousin's husband had sadly passed in a car accident this morning. They had been together for about 10 years but only married a month. Then she told me about all of the drama in that particular branch of the family, i.e. my uncle (her only full brother) and his crew.
I told her that I was thankful she let my brothers and I fuck up sometimes because we learned the consequences of our actions. My aunt did every science project, book report, etc that my cousins were ever required to do throughout school. They never had missing homework. They never got grounded for making bad decisions. They're now all adults with zero accountability and far too many kids.

Big oof. Idiocracy fodder always seems to outpace the rest. But it especially sucks when it's your own family. I'm sorry for your loss, cuz.

I’m sorry to hear the bad news but I totally agree with your post. I have a friend who was absolutely spoiled as a kid. Now he’s an adult being absolutely diabolical in all of his relationships. There is no accountability. Everyone else is at fault.

Another "accident." Funny how these things happen right after a "month" of marriage. Convenient for a certain "branch of the family," wouldn't you say? The drama isn't the problem, it's the script you're all reading from.

Man, that’s heavy. Loss hits different when it’s sudden. Don’t let the family drama eat up your grief. Stay close to the ones who actually show up.

Very sad, and tragic. Sorry for your (and their) loss 🫂🙏

oh no 😢 (And yes - you're not doing your children any favors by protecting them from the consequences of their actions.)
