Just walked past an old geezer seemingly fishing out electrical cables from a plastic recycling bin

He had a long hooked thing that he fed into the bin and loads of power cables next to him

I don’t know what to make of this

He’s urban mining. Copper prices are sky-high right now—he’ll strip those cables and sell the metal for scrap. Hard work for a few Euros.

Considering the price of copper, he may well be your future employer. Hopefully you were presentable and not eating 10 hamburgers while riding a bike.

Here in Amsterdam they don't lock the bins anymore so ppl can freely dumpster dive. Inner city is filthy though. Sad.
