I’m going to end up doing a full year without going to bitcoin conferences, by design.

I skipped Nashville, skipped MENA, skipped all the European ones. Nothing against them. Just wasn’t feeling it.

I did the Oslo Freedom Forum in June, but that’s not a bitcoin conference. The last actual one I did was Madeira in spring 2024.

Sometimes it’s good to take a break and refocus rather than phone it in and say the same things again. The things I said before are still valid, so why say them again, you know?

I’ve been traveling to visit family and friends instead.

yes, no need to go to conferences, you're a fiction author now :)

Wise.

Good on you. New thoughts won’t come staying in the same group, travelling to the same locations to say the same thing. Enjoy yourself!

„The things I said before are still valid, so why say them again“ Isn’t it the same for podcasts?

The other travel should also not be happening during this pandemic

Good on you Lyn! Give the Africa Bitcoin Conference a shot though!

I’m also on a break.. did Amsterdam after Riga, but that’s it until next year. A rest is required… ps. Arcane kept me busy, thanks again for the tip.

It was good to see you in Madeira!

Let's have more discussions on Nostr, more Nostr articles to share and debate, and less IRL conferences.

Time for the kids to step up. 👍

Maybe when you are ready to attend again you can do the https://bitcoincruise.com/ as it will be fresh and introduce both newbies to Bitcoin while providing a great experience and reunion for maxis

Well get it out of your system, because your pleb family members will need your guiding light, during the first 100 days.

YUP. I THINK I AM DONE WITH BITCOIN CONFERENCES.

The redundancy of preaching to choir has grown tiresome.

It goes with the cycle. Same reason we don’t see and hear from much from the class of 2013. Diminishing return as you know more.

I’ve never understood the Bitcoin conference circuit It’s the same 30 people, saying the same things over and over again. And throughout the year, the same 30 people just rotate between the 10 most popular Bitcoin podcasts, saying the same again and again and again.. Save the conference money...

Great take. Most of the speakers attend the conferences and regurgitate the same rhetoric like they're getting a share of Twitters ad revenue.

“Conferences” are nice pep rally’s and all but they reek of crypto and snake oil. Bitcoin is the quiet professional. It should act like one.
Fred Johnston · 66w
For those around a long time, it does sound like the same over and over. But the reality is, in ANY conference there are always a % of newcomers that need this type of interaction. The job of speakers is to keep mixing it up. Say the same thing different ways. Saylor does a pretty good job of this...

Reading Broken Money. Just wanted to congratulate and thank you for the amazing work. Such a great read. 👏

Nice! Have you considered a Nostr conference? 😄

I think many of us can relate to being in that boat. With so much noise around us, it’s the perfect time to self-reflect and build with intention. I love attending conferences to connect and grow with the community, though they can sometimes feel draining. nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswk...

Nice. Sometimes, if you don’t have anything new or innovative to say, it’s best to refocus, as you mentioned. You often see the same people at these conferences shamelessly saying and building the same things, just phrasing it differently. It makes Bitcoin conferences feel more like propaganda m...

I did this for the last... 2 years now almost? Not sure. I just felt like I had nothing new to say. Same for podcasts & the like. Can highly recommend.

Fair. I’m focusing more local. Doing meetups etc. can’t miss Bitblockboom but not sure about Vegas not feeling it either

Never been to a single conference and intend to stay pseudonymous. More things can be accomplished this way for Bitcoin, under the radar.

I understand what you are saying. But I bet I saw you in Madeira and at Cheatcode this year. 😁 Appreciate your work and all you do for #Bitcoin. Thank you 🙏🏽

That’s the point when you have a money that can’t be debased etc… you are in control of your time and the value of that time. Good stuff Lyn

Feeling this. Haven't been to any conferences since Riga and it's been great.

Was great to see you in both Oslo and Madeira, thank you for giving up your time to visit us Euro Plebs Lyn! I remember the crowds response in Madeira when I introduced you on stage, I hope you do too. Sending love and have a great end of year!

Likewise, it’s been a tough year with what’s been happening in Lebanon and the region. ABC Nairobi was a fresh air though.
