I've actually been there 2 times, and one time it was in Egypt and there was terrorists bombing on the days I was there, the hotel workers will also purposely knock on your door bring you towels and demand a tip and many other third world behavior.

Africa would be one of the most amazing places to travel around but always having to look over your shoulder ruins the trip, it's not safe enough there yet.
