there is one positive thing about an algorithm if its truely serving the user. it makes content creators compete for eyeballs. so in theory content you see should increase in content quality over time.

the only issue is people might not always know whats good for them so the algo will feed them junk, but maybe that will never change...

for people who want to learn something new, just focusing on things they are interesting in (business/entrepreneurship ) scrolling can actually be useful for motivation and learning.

so algos aren't always bad even though that is sometimes the meme on nostr.

do you find any algos on nostr useful? or do we still suck at this.

I've been mulling how to develop an algorithm that would surface quality content discovery in the global feed.

the black and white thing gets tiresome. an algo that finds related content with more depth than a hashtag is pretty cool. its harvesting our psychological profiles for advertisers and putting a finger on the scale that sucks.

I find one per follow to be helpful but I’d like to see it evolve into a 4 per follow, or some sort of daily catch up, or rewrap where you start from the bottom of your Nostr feed for that day, & scroll up instead of starting from the latest notes. Most of the time I miss other peoples notes beca...

Eyeballs doesn't equal quality. See MrBeast.

Algos aren't inherently bad and never have been. The Reason why there is this perception is because the most influential social algos in recent history were the result of information asymmetry, jam-packed with hidden motives and for the benefit of unknown parties. When an algo is transparent and can...

I posted this a couple of days ago to a different but similar comment: It is a nice but naive believe that attention is drawn to quality; because it is mostly drawn to whatever exploits human dopamine receptors fastest and easiest. I cannot say why, but AI writing seems to be good at that. Quality...

Algos serve Alphabet, not users, amplifying Gates-funded narratives.

Does Nostr have algos?

I haven't found a good one. But I agree, algorithms should be like changing channels on TV.
