That's stupid. It would be nice to have a low box with a remote and all, but I just don't trust any modern tools because you get this. How many servers did it have to connect to to deliver those ads, and Im sure it didn't do a network/port scan when you turn it on..
It's far from convenient but I built a machine with the silverstone htpc case like 12 years ago and i slowly upgrade it. I switched to fedora + kde and sometimes KDE connect works and I can just use a smartphone to kvm touchpad and stuff. Now I just do the old fashioned KVM...
Anyway don't blame you for wanting a simple media player box, but we live in tech hell now. Time to mini-pc it up.
