Question for @SoapMiner :

Why is it so hard to use up a bar of soap completely? I use it until it gets too small to practically use anymore, then I fuse it to a new bar of soap. Instead of the sliver getting used up, it just clings on for dear life while the new bar diminishes. Then I end up with two slivers of unfinished soap to fuse to the next bar. I have to throw the slivers away to start fresh or they just keep layering on. Why won't they die?

The hand made soap I use doesn't do that. Weird.

Soap, when it's wet, is moldable. I haven't actually researched the chemistry behind it.
