I don't think it's unreasonable for a condo complex to have an HOA. There's too many shared expenses and there has to be some organization to deal with it.

When I move into a house there is no way in hell I'll suffer an HOA.

I understand that a condo complex has shared expenses and an HOA solves that problem. Personality thing. At this stage in my life I think I'd rather live in a van down by the river than a condo. At least I wouldn't have shared walls.

So I'm on my HOA board (against my will) and we had a meeting today in which we discussed how much to raise dues because the reserve is dwindling and we need to be in a certain range for blah blah blah. Anyway I picked an increase that would bring the monthly dues to $420 simply because lol 420 and it got approved. I live to serve my community.

Do you ever eat tortilla chips that are too big and they scrape the corners of your mouth but you keep shoving them in because they're so good but then your mouth corners are all fucked up because of the salt and acid from the salsa really irritated them and it's a sensitive area already before you recklessly gorged yourself on chips and salsa but you probably didn't learn your lesson and are going to do it again because you bought 6 lbs of tortilla chips from Costco and they need to get eaten? Yeah, me neither.
