What does that mean? We chose something and we can never change our minds? No one should have a blind devotion to Bitcoin. Bitcoin was always only our best chance of fixing the problem of government monopoly over money issuance and related evils, not an idol to be worshipped.

If we spot something else that might give us a better chance we should definitely switch immediately.

With that said, Bitcoin is still miles ahead of anything else. If eCash proves to work even a little bit we may have a better chance of miners activating it on Bitcoin and that will be great.

If not, and if Bitcoiners don't come up with any better solutions (it is very unlikely they will, and even if they get a better solution it is even more unlikely that they will be able to activate it) that will mean that Bitcoin will die slowly over many decades. This will be bad as most people will not see it happening. Our only hope in this case is that eCash captures more users from outside the current Bitcoin sect and gets bigger faster than Bitcoin gets smaller. I guess this will have to happen anyway if it has any chances anyway.
