Just to be on the absolute safe side, I would make sure to have a battery capable of putting out 2.5 amps. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

TLDW, you CAN power the 1 watt booster from a lithium battery. The battery is 3.7v and the booster needs 5v at 1.5a so it steps up from 3.7 to 5v. If I am doing my math correctly, this means your lithium battery needs to be able to put out 2a at full power. #Meshtastic #MeshCore Show more

Yup, and if voltage sags in the cold (-30c), this happens. Volts down, amps up. The dc-dc boost converter didnt like the abuse. That's part of the reason I'm switching to NiCd batteries, and Li-Ion batteries freak me out unattended in a forest, because of fire risk, abused from charging in the cold ...
