I photographed this wee fly on the campus of #LincolnUniversityNZ, during a student-led campus BioBlitz this month.

Otago Museum fly expert Steve Kerr has confirmed on iNaturalist today that it's the endemic species, *Melanagromyza senecionella.* This makes it the first record of this species in the Canterbury region, at least online on #GBIF and #iNaturalist, and the 34th observation in NZ online.

It's one of several new species for campus that students and staff found during the BioBlitz. Natural history discoveries can be made everywhere in NZ.
