@nprofile1q... if you get the CHIRP cable and the software (available for Linux as well as Windows) you can set channels as receive only, which would keep IC happy as if you accidentally press PTT the radio won't go into TX and cause interference (this has been a feature for many years, in the analogue days many taxi uncles in my old town had the VHF Police channel on RX only on a "hidden" channel number - it wasn't legal but there was nothing cops could do about it as they weren't transmitting)
