Old roaming Tom Cat (zwerfkater) but still young at heart. Toots EN, (NL,FR,DE). #DevOpa - interested more in retro tech / culture / aesthetics than new stuff. Also transport and public infrastructure in general (with a UK/European focus)

Welcome to the secret goose shed!

@nprofile1q... even the Police round here realise this and are trying to get NHS and Social Services to attend first for mental health incidents, but the other services struggle to provide staff out of hours due to lack of funding...

But the issue with them turning up for ODs is due to NHS Ambulance Service *requesting* them as backup (they can now communicate across services with the digital radios by using a "mutual aid talkgroup") - if someone calls nines and asks for Ambulance they are put straight through to Ambulance Control - the 999 operator is at British Telecom, independent of the Emergency Services (unlike 911 call centres which appear to be Police led)
Alex@rtnVFRmedia Suffolk UK profile picture
We should have something similar to what is being put forward in NZ / Aotearoa here in UK.

Currently if someone calls 999/112 for to report a drugs overdose and requests Ambulance, there's still a non zero chance the Police turn up *as well* (NHS justify this by claiming its for "safety of the paramedics" and those who reported the OD are )quizzed/searched and sometimes arrested

I've figured it out ... Computers should only do what you ask and nothing more I asked google, whatever, just to remove the power wires ... And it put the Ravens on a branch, I didn't ask for that ....

@nprofile1q... tried this on Copilot with a picture of a small dog out in the yard and two cats in my garden - in both situations it didn't even have the honesty to admit the backgrounds were too busy (or it wasn't prepared to use the resources for the free tier) and after repeated prompts returned pictures of completely different dogs and cats (a Yorkshire Terrier became a Patterdale, and two ginger cats became one ginger cat and a tabby)

It also couldn't identify the year of the car I drive in spite of having full access to LinkedIn where there is a picture of it on there (its really easy to tell the difference between MK6/7/7,5/8 VW Golf), which suggests that the resources to process images are rationed (but no service wants to admit to it)

raves still happen, albeit nowadays in larger towns and cities with better public transport and/or urban layouts that aren't so car-dependent. Authorities in many countries (particularly UK and Europe) have become a lot better at detecting and clamping down on the rampant DUI that was present on that scene, which has had an impact on who is still prepared to attend such events if they are more further afield.

Also social media culture fed the same authorities with 20 years worth of evidence about sheer level of drug use and hedonism that was used to justify the clampdowns..

@nprofile1q... the pub appeared to be doing fairly well before the crash - it would however be relatively easy to lose control of the Jag if someone was pushing on a bit too much (a witness in this video claims the driver was going at some speed)

presumably someone born in later 90s/00s, growing up in an environment where they felt unsafe to spend much time outdoors (due to traffic and/or personal safety issues?)- but even then, how can you *not* know what season it is by age *13*?

Starting from primary school we had regular lessons about the seasons and weather and even a notice board where the days weather as well as the day and month was put up - is this no longer a thing nowadays?

found #bug on both #FireFox and #WaterFox - neither will display apps page on #MS365 - it doesn't appear on main portal menu with Copilot, nor on URL with
//m365.cloud.microsoft/apps

workaround is to go into outlook.office.com and use the square of 9 dots to get the app menu. Its curious as it *used* to work!

Looked for other reports or solutions but not found any - I guess Microsoft will just say "use Edge or Chrome", and Firefox/Waterfox users generally don't like MS365 so aren't interested in fixing it (I use Firefox to stay logged in to a different MS365 tenant on that particular browser rather than my main work one (which is left logged in on Edge)

what seems worrying here is her car had an obvious personalised registration mark - maybe thieves aren't as aware of British popular culture so didn't know who's car it was, but could she have been targeted for being prominent/outspoken?

its possible the car was the main target, but nicking a celebs car surely involves more risk than any other, and Land Rovers aren't exactly uncommon in #Brentwood !

Also the vehicle was later seen in #Chelmsford, which seems like an odd route to take if the thieves didn't want to be detected (there's plenty ANPR/CCTV cameras in Mid / North #Essex and more spare resource of the #Police to look at them!)

Whoever posted this on #LinkedIn was correct about CCA #network #cable (and there is way too much of this cursed stuff around nowadays) being sub par to decent copper - but didn't realise that the cable has two brown pairs rather than blue and brown!

(probably some #AI slop, which makes even less sense as its a simple drawing)
