You might wonder why Iran would invade the rest of the Middle East when they hadn't before. The reason is because if you're sitting there and you're attacked, it's best for you to de-escalate and make the attack go away and keep doing business as usual.
But once you get hit hard enough that business as usual is basically over, then your best course of action is to first win, and then second seize everything you possibly can.
Once they kick the US out of Iran, there's no reason not to keep going and kick the US out of Iraq. It's just a few more months of fighting a war that they're already winning. And the same goes for the entire middle east. Every one of the GCC states is a US-backed kingdom and the Iranian claim is that kings are against Islam and that the whole middle east should be a unified Islamic Empire.
