For TWO YEARS I couldn’t figure out why my mic sounded so quiet in my home studio - always carrying this rusty, vintage-80s texture. I thought it was just my lousy environment.

Turns out… I was recording with a powerful stage mic, not a true studio mic. Great for live energy, not so great at capturing subtle emotional details - the little textures I was actually reaching for.

Then it took another month to finally sort the order and welcome a new mic into the studio - I was feeling ambitious and wanted to release a new song for Valentine’s Day 😅 (stay tuned!) - a lot of making music is about trusting the process. ✨

There’s this jet lag between me and my music - the time difference between when a line is written and when it’s finally heard. A jet lag between me and myself. A whisper stored in a time capsule.

How I lingered.
How I moved on.

The timeline between past, present, and future keeps surfacing in front of me while I’m still inside a much larger puzzle. The sensation of it all.

Now that I’m producing more myself (and hopefully improving along the way), I’m excited to hear how this new voice shapes the next tracks.

Bye-bye to my good old mic — for now.
