You know what the biggest stupidity of this current generation is? They think just because someone is attractive and looks good, they're also knowledgeable, trustworthy, and competent. It's a new kind of insanity to want to associate all positive qualities together. "Ooooh, looks sexy, must have something going on!"

No generation before thought like that, except maybe the ancient Romans toward the end. I remember it from the 70s and 80s. Back then, the image was "the prettier, the dumber" or "competence doesn't care about appearance." But starting from the 90s? A totally unique form of retardation. Sorry, you 20 to 30 year olds totally screwed this one up.

What I've found odd, and this isn't recent, is people thinking that someone with a lot of money deserves extra respect and praise. I just don't get it.

That's part of it. Overall I've noticed an overpersonalization of the average person's relationship with public figures through the interaction factor that social media has spearheaded. We believe we know intimately X person's life and beliefs, making them 'trustworthy' or not.
