Listened to @nostrich and @nostrich on Reason yesterday talk about nostr. The thing that stuck with me the most was JB just briefly mentioning that there might be an open market of feed curation algorithms some day.

This makes so much sense. Think about it: you can choose from different feed curation and recommendation algos. Try one after the other, see what you like best. Modify it. Use the one from your friend. You could even opt in to public spammer lists, like we do with ad blockers today!

The sheer availability of public nostr data will draw a lot of data science and ML-interested people in. When clients allow their users to change the algos, the algos will come.

Run your own algorithm or it might just run you. #[0]

100% agreed. Whichever clients give users the best and most customizable feed curation algorithm should attract the most users. The beauty of open protocols like Nostr is that clients will be competing against each other to offer the best experience for the user! Plus it’s super easy for develo...

Lots of great ideas here. Would these be implemented as bots, client app plugins of some sort? Could relays be set up with these options? Could you opt in to have advertisers pay you sats to have ads in your feed? #[0]

Yes! Also you could have many different feeds and switch between them. A feed for Bitcoin stuff, a feed for other hobbies (if we had any) ...

It's mainly Twitter's opacity and hidden agendas that made people distrust and lose faith in algos. But algos are very useful in extracting information, simple time-order feed is not very scalable. It will be interesting to see the evolution of different algos in clients, server-based algo provider...

Paid for algos will incentive this too to keep it up to date with good moderation and spam filtering to that specific niche of users that like those levels
