Last night, my dog woke me up, chasing off a bear who was 20 yards away before I could get a shot.

Bear season is open for archery through Sep 6 in California. People will gladly come hunt your land if you put it out. They’ll probably pay you to come hunt them but it’d be faster if you allow it for free. I’d just check regs on the unit and private land.
