People are very touchy about free will.
The Bible does teach that Man has free will, and that his free will is constrained, obviously, within the confines of Creation and by his nature, which since Adam, is a nature that is fallen, corrupt, self serving, fearful of death, and committed to rebellion to the things of God.
We do not have the capacity, given this nature, to free ourselves from Sin, to save ourselves by freely believing and following in Christ. Our will is free but our ability is insufficient because our nature is fallen.
We must rely on God alone to rescue us from our own Sinful nature, to regenerate us to faith in Christ, and to carry and support us all our days.
We must pray that God provide us a new life, a new nature, so that our free will is perseverantly inclined towards Him.
