Due to money printing, the dollar has lost most of it's purchasing power since then. Inflation made the population poor.

We're not even thinking about travel in our household. Even in-country and slumming it is expensive, let alone actually getting a level of quality that seems worth the effort. Standard hotel stay in a "decent" big city is like 400 CAD a night + air travel + car rental + eating out. Nah thanks, I ...
