How does one keep the multigenerational homes/vibes going in the age of digital nomads?

We’ve had a good run so far. In the jungle we’ve had casitas on our property that have had a steady flow of grandparents and friends rolling through. Laura’s parents are there now so we’ll keep the flow going.

We’re only one kid in, and it feels like quite a bit of work and it’s amazing having multiple eyes, vibes, personalities, and caretakers around at all times.

We’ve basically taken over a building here in Italy. Laura’s parents are on the left and brother with his girlfriend on the right.

Things are always just better when there’s more people around. There’s help to do the chores, friends to do nothing or play with etc.

I thibk that’s the reason why people have their best times in college. They are always walking distance (or less) away from humans and social events.

I’m super drawn towards recreating this somehow in daily life. We did for a bit at the primal house. That was too close of quarters for Laura, but I freakin loved it. Always someone to bounce ideas off of, always family dinners, always someone to ping pong with etc. i may go check out the network state thing @balajis has going on. Sounds fun.

We’re kind of (slowly) building out something like this down in the jungle with the health crew and the bitcoin crew.

Anyways, just doing a brain dump of human slop on yall and am curious your thoughts on how y’all with bigger families do it if you’ve moved away from fam or are doing family nomading. Pv

It really is needed and important for raising kids, as well as for the kids themselves growing up. I had it but since then so family have scattered into different parts of the world making it really hard to create what the generation above had. Not a day goes by where I try to think how I could ...

We have a two and a half year old daughter, and try to do the same. We always invite our parents to live with us, even if sometimes you have to give up a little but of privacy. During the winter season we go to Thailand, and there it's abit more difficult for family to come, but we've managed to lur...

Roots of family and property secure freedom, as Epictetus said, "not what happens to you, but how you react."

This is a universal truth although not easy to find in our current times. I’d love to have a Bitcoin/Nostr vibed community to live. Decentralized people wanting to live centralized.

I really think you’re onto something. Humans were never meant to do life alone. Having family and close friends around doesn’t just make the workload lighter, it makes everyday moments richer. I love the idea of intentionally building a community instead of waiting for one to happen. It probably...

Many have the vision for creating (sustainable) communities. In reality, it's not that easy and it appears for the last few decades there are very few attempts that have succeeded. Interpersonal relations is a main factor. In talking to folks who've been in this field for a while the other top fact...
