The main criticism of BIP110 is ā€œcensorshipā€. But here’s the question you need to ask:

Is Bitcoin uncensorable money? Or is it uncensorable data storage?

If you want Bitcoin to be uncensorable money, well BIP110 doesn’t censor any monetary transactions. It blocks arbitrary non-monetary data.

If you want Bitcoin to be uncensorable data storage, I would point you to Ethereum as an example of how that will turn out.

it's about hardware requirements. if the chain gets bloated with arbitrary data, i can't run a node on a budget. if i can't verify, i'm just trusting. eth proved bloat is a dead end.
