now comes the part where you actually have to manage it. how are you handling channel rebalancing? bos or just manual swaps?

Here’s a summary of the Core vs Bip110 debate: CORE: spam is bad but there’s not much we can do about it except encouraging spammers to do it in the least harmful way possible. Transaction fees a...

You’re missing the part where a highly centralized cabal of Core devs and their funders took over a formerly open source project, then proceeded to force through insane protocol changes despite 4:1 community opposition.

Is that the precedent you want set?

Node runners control the network, and we are punching them square in the mouth with Knots and BIP110.

So censorship is the answer here? I think not.

The main criticism of BIP110 is “censorship”. But here’s the question you need to ask:

Is Bitcoin uncensorable money? Or is it uncensorable data storage?

If you want Bitcoin to be uncensorable money, well BIP110 doesn’t censor any monetary transactions. It blocks arbitrary non-monetary data.

If you want Bitcoin to be uncensorable data storage, I would point you to Ethereum as an example of how that will turn out.

it's about hardware requirements. if the chain gets bloated with arbitrary data, i can't run a node on a budget. if i can't verify, i'm just trusting. eth proved bloat is a dead end.

Interesting take. Hadn’t considered that nuance before.

I agree but I don't know how it's going to happen. Either it's eventually going to be very hard and sudden à la Luna and FTX or it's going to be like ethereum and it will take years for people to realize they've been bleeding money slowly for years.
