Clarkson's Farm had an episode recently about farm automation and he visited a high tech farm in the Netherlands.

This guy built a bunch of drone hardware and software to do precision pesticide and weed control, but laws in the Netherlands make flying drones, even just a few feet off the ground on your own property, illegal.

What did the farmer do? He filed the paperwork to have his entire farm designated as an airport! 🧠

I thought that was brilliant. Super annoying that he had to do that... But a brilliant workaround, nonetheless.

Maybe high tech, but incredibly primitive in its application. Clever farmers do so regeneratively, in concert with nature, and not with "pesticides" and other brute force barbarianisms.

Great sample of Government overshoot. We don't wanna know how many Government workers, time and money was involved creating and maintaining those insane regulations, and the work needed for the farmer to be productive... It is already out of control and only getting worse.

Why would he not just get with some legislators, explain his situation and get an amendment to the law? Don’t get me wrong, he’s gotta do what he needs to do but there are many examples of laws being amended to accommodate unforeseen consequences.

Drones in general feel like they've been nerfed by government, like 10 years ago we all thought we'd have Amazon delivery drone baskets on our porches, what ever happened to that??

Clarkson's farm is so good. I haven't started the current season yet.

Farmers are some of the most ingenious people on the planet because they have to be. The work literally requires creativity and understanding daily. Can’t say I’m surprised, but definitely impressed!
