I think this is sort of what set me off yesterday with feeling like people equate financial success with creative success. The MCU is an entire fucking industry.

Imagine just consuming the media you want to & NOT slavishly committing yourself to being a "fan" of a product line.
One reason I HAD to quit the MCU is that I only ever watched the films or shows that sounded interesting to me, & eventually it was too hard to follow the lore, because I hadn't watched everything. I hated that.
That's not fandom. That's getting locked in.
