Look up "Leaf Battery Rebuild" on YT. There's guys doing shit I wouldn't even do... Battery cells off Alibaba, etc.
Some of them are indeed total black boxes, DYOR...
@Caleb James DeLisle @Pawlicker 🐾😹 @nprofile1q... This was the best one I could find, someone doing battery module replacements for extra range. These vehicles being worked on are all 10-15 years old and require a completely different skillset from ICE engines so at best you get hobbyist electricians and EEs making some one-off changes to them. But none of this is easy.

I go back to the reparability and maintainability (and I suppose extensibility) of EVs. Find me the MSD ignition of the EV world. It doesn't exist. https://www.msdignition.com/
The only hope I can see (and this is very ironic) is China, because they generally don't screw around with western ideals like walled gardens and copyright. They all one-up each other through cost and manufacturing prowess.
