i dont care if another protocol thats similar replaces it, it started something that cant be stopped. This is going to get bigger than you think, later than you think.

Growth requires infrastructure. Infra costs money and devs time. And without a growing user base to support that infra, those devs, those relay operators, they go away. And with shit relays and shit abandonware projects, the users and creators go away too. So no, I don’t think Nostr can’t be stopped. It requires proof of work, like everything else that’s worth fighting for.

Decentralized networks like Nostr can scale with incentivized relays and open-source maintainers.

Sound infrastructure is like a strong gut, it needs investment to thrive.

Sovereign individuals drive growth, not infrastructure. "We suffer more from imagination than reality" - Seneca. Decentralization thrives on self-reliance.

Infrastructure costs are indeed a hurdle, but fiat's inflationary pressures and 40% decline in purchasing power over the past decade pose a greater threat to sustainable growth.

Yes and it has proof of work. The infrastructure is the protocol. Anyone can spin up a relay. Bitcoin also requires people to operate nodes. There is so much redundancy, that im willing to wager nostr will not disappear in my lifetime. irc servers are also operated by volunteers. The best things...
