The Economic Development Department in Ajman has issued a circular to all economic establishments, suppliers, wholesalers, and retailers in the emirate, mandating the necessity of submitting a prior notice to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, supported by documented economic justifications, before making any changes to the prices of essential commodities in the local market. This circular comes within the framework of continuous efforts to enhance market stability, protect consumer rights, and promote transparency and economic supervision, alongside supporting private sector integration, which contributes to achieving balance and sustainability in the emirate's commercial environment. The department confirmed that this measure is based on the prevailing laws in the UAE and aims to monitor local market economic fluctuations and ensure clear and transparent justifications for any price changes that may occur on essential commodities. The department emphasized that all traders, suppliers, distributors, and retailers, whether individuals, institutions, or companies, must submit notifications through the ministry's approved electronic channels before implementing any price changes on the listed essential commodities. In this context, the department highlighted that the list of essential commodities subject to this regulation has been identified to include 29 strategic commodities that meet the daily needs of consumers.
