I just read another disgusting post that talked about how a mom who chooses to stay home with her baby "pause her entire identity, put her career on ice, let her ambition shrink, in the name of stability, sacrificed her salory, and sanity so their kids could grow up held herd and safe."
Eh, this is all based on the lie that a career is more important, and selfishness should be celebrated. Plus, a dad who chooses to go to work is sacrificing his time to get to be there and see all the milestones and be present and father his kids himself! To push that it's better for kids to be raised by strangers than their own parents is a disgusting lie that's actually hindering parents from loving their kids.
Our son is absolutely amazing! I chose a husband who wanted to be a present father. He has chosen to do things for money that allows him to be with his kids!
Sure, I was able to focus a lot better on writing books before our son was born, but I'm not putting my dreams on hold, I'm living my dreams! I can be an author for the rest of my life, but I can only see my baby while they're a baby! That's not very long at all! Our son is already almost a year old 🤯
Plus, my identity didn't get paused, my identity increased! I started as a daughter, then I became a wife and now a mom, they're all true at the same time!
And yes, writing a long post like this has had me stepping away multiple times, but I'd much rather have my son with me than "being able to focus on 'what I wanna do'!"
