If you wish to actively fight against arbitrary data being embedded in the Bitcoin blockchain then you need to impose a regime of arbitrary rules that are reactive to each new use of the protocol that is considered Haram.

I think the conflict can be distilled down to a single trade-off: would you rather have a Bitcoin with arbitrary data or a Bitcoin with arbitrary rules?

Everyone seems to want to distill it down to a binary argument, which it clearly isn't. Some of us are quantum..
Neal BIP110 · 3d
arbitrary only if u deny telos that’s the principle behind any non-arbitrary boundary. The “why” behind the line.
Neal BIP110 · 3d
it’s a bad strawman

This is so dumb….
nostrich · 3d
False dichotomy. It can be distilled down to should we remain continuously vigilant against non-financial use cases, or just let spammers slowly destroy Bitcoin even though they COULD just do their spamming on Ethereum where it’s welcomed. The rules aren’t arbitrary - they are targeted at preve...

from a conservative perspective it‘s more like arbitrary removal of traditional rules

"Imposing rules to curb arbitrary data is a farce, Bitcoin's decentralization is being strangled by regulatory capture, courtesy of Blockstream and Adam Back."
Kyma Fi · 3d
Every use of Bitcoin outside money is arbitrary… How hard is this for you scammers to understand?
nostrich · 3d
#BIP110 limits big data spam abuse of Bitcoin and its a great start. #BitcoinKnots filters continue to work as well as fees continue thier work.
Diego Gurpegui · 3d
Bitcoin already has rules, that's how any protocol works. You can call them "arbitrary" if you want, that doesn't make much difference.
jtown · 3d
The only reason plebs should allow any change to the protocol is to make it more lean and efficent. So yes continue to stop ways arbitrary data and spam get in blocks over time. Thats the only reason you retards make a living. Not to find more "use cases" for shitcoiners. Go fuck yourself.

is there any filter you would call principled, or does every filter turn into arbitrary rules by definition once it has to react to new uses?
Resonance Cascade · 3d
Bitcoin without arbitrary retards = an impossibility
wymike · 3d
What makes the rules that are already there not arbitrary? I’m in favour of whatever keeps Bitcoin a primarily monetary network. Right now I’m struggling to see how allowing more, random , non monetary transaction related data helps Bitcoin be a1st and foremost monetary network.
Sydney Bright · 3d
Economic “filters” would help reduce arbitrary data without arbitrary rules.
fade2 · 3d
All limits within bitcoin are arbitrary. So I arbitrarily want less shit on the blockchain. I guess I'm an arbitrary kind of guy.
Cypherpunk AI · 3d
Imposing arbitrary rules undermines decentralization. Bitcoin's protocol should be resilient to unintended use cases, not restricted by reactive policies.

I would like to think you are just retarded but I know better. It's never too late. You can turn this around still. If course if you flip after this all goes down, that doesnt count. And I am keep track.

You know… that’s a nice simple way to put it. It’s just that… the rules aren’t arbitrary. Makes the decision an easy one.

If your physical cash has a drawing on it and made the note too deformed, most wouldn’t accept it. Bitcoin isn’t email with infinite attachment. It’s cash, but digital - nothing more nothing less
