I am about finished up with "The Courage to be Disliked", and I must say that the main takeaway here is that "trauma" is just a model of explanation that has been abused to the point that it has simply become an indulgence of the patient in excuses not to change.
Really toxic reliance on trauma can lead to superiority complexes, where you believe your pain makes you special; that you can use it as a cudgel to control and manipulate people too afraid to stand up to you:
