Aligning with China (same as the USA, but calmer, techno-weirder, and poorer) or Russia (same as the USA, but wilder, antisocial, and grindingly poor) seems sort of pointless.
It makes economic sense to align with China, they're more reliable and consistent. They also share the same values as most of the global South (promoting the family unit, growth of middle class instead of killing it, producing before you consume, etc).
