A new experimental open-source tool called QuailSeed uses the naturally occurring pigment patterns on quail eggs as physical input for generating a 24-word BIP-39 Bitcoin seed phrase.
The process photographs 12 eggs from four angles each, analyzes and measures their shell patterns, converts the results into a deterministic transcript, and cryptographically conditions it into 256 bits of entropy.
The developers stress that QuailSeed is experimental research software and has not been independently audited, formally verified, or approved as a secure random-number generator or production custody system.
