Xapo Bank users are raising concerns after the app began requiring location data to make transactions, with one user reportedly told they must share GPS coordinates to access their funds.

Xapo says it cross-references location with other data to confirm the account holder is in control.

Tone Vays warned location requirements could become standard across regulated payment apps, while Casa CEO Nick neuman suggested the measure may be aimed at combating rampant social-engineering attacks rather than traditional KYC.
