Can you comment on Brian Berletic’s take on this? He says China is providing Iran with the support it can, and that overextending itself outside its near abroad would be foolish.

To your question though, I'm fairly certain that China is providing support to Iran in some capacity, but will be doing so with complete plausible deniability. That's just how China seeks to operate. I would also agree that the Beijing leadership will be doing so without risking overextending itself.
