I've found it healthier to express myself, than to hold it in, or hold back. When boundaries have been tested in the past, and I handled it with kid gloves, I always got burned.
I later changed to allowing for one mistake after I've communicated a boundary. If the other party crosses the line again, torching them is the better policy. First, they either weren't listening, or didn't care. Second, I did what I could to communicate, allow for humanity, and protect myself.
In many cases, the other party ends up being more respectful to others afterward.
