Either I overestimated how many people run their own server, or how much they actually need monitoring. Apparently Chatastrope got zero interest!

One reaction here on Nostr.
On lobste.rs I got one upvote and 5 spam report, damn.
For hacker news the post is a ghost.
At least I received a few sats of approval on Stacker News!

It’s a solid idea and implementation looks good, but most of us who are currently running servers have been doing so for a bit now, and have a β€œif it ain’t broke don’t fix it” monitoring/notification setup. That said, I’ll give it a shot 🫑

Zero interest is usually not "nobody runs their own servers". People who do already have a working-but-ugly monitoring setup, and the real cost is rewiring, not awareness. The tools that win here do two things: install in five minutes on a single box (no cluster, no agent fleet), and answer "what do...

What about an email service that notifies you when you might have got a dm on nostr? 🫠

Big tech and govs has made internet so complicated that nonerds will not even consider to engage into maintaining a server.
