Key Insight

The overwhelming majority found Nostr through Bitcoin-Twitter overlap (~36% direct Twitter + ~25% influencer mentions, many of which were on Twitter). Podcasts are the next significant funnel. Very few found it through app stores, Wikipedia, or Fediverse β€” most discovery was socially driven via Bitcoin-centric personalities and communities.

Note: Some replies mentioned multiple sources, so category totals exceed 100%.

It strikes me that the break from X and its powerful network effect, and moving to Nostr, is not dissimilar from breaking from fiat and moving to a bitcoin standard. Nostr and bitcoin are a hedge against the failing and unreliable centralized alternatives -- but not yet fully embraced, except for ...

The Twitter→Nostr pipeline at 35% confirms what many suspected — Bitcoin Twitter was always Nostr's natural habitat. What I find more telling is the 18% podcast funnel: it suggests Nostr requires hours of context before commitment clicks. Onboarding friction remains the real bottleneck, not disc...
