Ok, does anyone have any security camera recommendations? I want it to record 24/7 especially audio. My neighbor is escalating her crazy to the point where I can't go outside to smoke without her screaming profanities at me and my dog. This is mostly just for defense if she escalates things to the city.

I strongly dislike surveillance and I'm annoyed this is even necessary. But I'd rather be proactive and not have to worry about crazy neighbor trying to kill my dog because she barked at a groundhog. The neighbor already started throwing things in our direction, although nothing has hit our property.

It's all just bizarre. I'm outside for 10 minutes every two hours. There are other dogs on my block that stay tethered in the front yard and bark semi-constantly so idk why she's becoming so fixated on us. HEAVY SIGH!

I’ve heard good things about eufy but I haven’t used one…

I need this as well. Trust zero major camera companies as they likely sell their data (like Ring). Might be worth it for you short term just to contact the police or a lawyer about her crazy behavior

Whatever you get, beware of the 'cloud' element. Most CCTV will send footage home for one reason or another. I always store recordings locally and prohibit all outbound traffic from the cameras at the router.

The simple Ring outdoor ones were like $40 online last I looked. Cheap and easy.

Throwing things is an escalation for sure.

We have a Kasa cam kc200 camera that does a good job. And it does a great job with audio. I can hear birds chirp across the yard. I can hear thunder. They aren’t expensive and not the absolute best. But they are pretty good. I’ll see if I can find a link

PoE cameras are plentiful and cheap but require a lot of effort to set up/mount. Most of the cameras that normies use are really sketchy when it comes to privacy, since there's way too much data leaving your premises.

ugh - that sucks With cameras the most impt aspect for your privacy you is where the data is stored, and if you make sure that it's local (and not uploaded to some cloud) then it's yours to use as you might need.

I know there is some controversy around Wyze and data but just don't put one inside your house. I have 8 around my home and love em. 2 way audio, sd recording for local, cloud storage for days, event monitoring and alerts etc.

Lorex is good. Can do local storage. If you want notifications, streaming, live... Well, they all send data to the borg (pick any nation). If you want all that and no Borg... You'd have to get a very expensive custom setup. Private, Functional and Reliable, or Affordable: pick 2.

No recommendations (because idk shit about em) but on the surveillance topic, I don’t see anything wrong with having a record of what actually happened. ☕️

A wired ring camera should suffice. I have 14 of them in/outside my home/garage/property.

Eve Home. No account. No 3rd party. If you have Advanced Protection turned on then E2EE storage in iCloud. https://www.evehome.com/en-us/eve-outdoor-cam

I think this is maybe too technical, and maybe also overkill for a simple thing like that, but i don't trust iot devices so here is the sovereign way to set it up: you need: 1 cam, 1 wifi router, 1 dual nic mini PC get any iot cam, like Tapo. set them up normally, update firmware etc. then, put t...
