I would imagine that many wouldn’t want names or photos attached to their name. I don’t want someone to guess my MNS and then get some info about me! Delta Chat is partially against usernames because they want it to be safe for kids, for example. They don’t want discoverability

You can never stop that, but yes maybe no need to encourage people to do it at the DNS level. But it is quite hard to stop these leaks, if you have an email you are still leaking these info. I will stay out of this mess, everyone should do what they want with their DNS records.

Ideally you have access control on that stuff. This what people loved about Facebook (until they messed that all up), the ability to choose woo cash see what. It'd be a bit like an auto-fill UX, that you confirm our not, when you want to post in some forum or join a chat.
