Loved this comment on one of my recent podcasts:

Two families roll into a new town and ask the old man at the gate what the people are like.
First family: “Back home they were selfish, cold, always looking for something to hate.”
Old man: “That’s what you’ll find here.”
Second family: “Back home they were decent, generous, easy to live with.”
Old man: “That’s what you’ll find here.”
Someone watching asks why he lied to one of them. He didn’t. You don’t move to a new town. You bring the one you already live in.

Unfortunately I see a lot of that in Bitcoin. Some people and their egos are creating factions, which weaken Bitcoin every time a fragmentation occurs.

Tongue in cheek but this is what our last discussion was about. Lol And this post supports my claims. No need to respond, I’m sure the context was different for this post. I support 100% the meaning of this and enjoyed reading it.

Munger had a line for this: "The best way to get what you want is to deserve what you want." Same town, same people. The only variable you control is the one who walked in the gate.

yes a lot of people try to fix themselves by moving to a new place. The problem is you take yourself with you.

I see the truth here however how does it scale when you compare living in an oppressed country icw a free one? In the former you just can’t be yourself.

Wrong. We lived in a dystopian place during covid. The people were sheep and enjoyed their servitude. They even tried to enforce it on other people. Oh, and homeschooling was seen as bad for kids. We moved to a freedom place. None of our friends wore masks, none got juiced, almost all homeschool. ...
