⚡️🔎 NEW - After 17 years, Bitcoin is reportedly still held by only about 4.5 to 6% of the world’s population.

Estimates presented by Willy Woo put the number of holders at around 370 to 500 million.
In absolute terms, India would lead the way with about 68 million holders, ahead of the United States with 50 million and China with 33 million.

But the ranking changes completely when looking at the proportion of the population: 17% in Vietnam, 16% in the United Arab Emirates, 15% in Argentina, and 14% in the United States, the Philippines, and Turkey.

These figures should, however, be treated as estimates, since one person can obviously own multiple wallets, while an exchange may consolidate the BTC of millions of customers into just a few addresses.

Worth noting these figures almost certainly come from exchange KYC/signup data rather than on-chain activity, which double-counts users holding across multiple platforms and likely undercounts self-custodied holders who never touch a CEX. India/US ranking high by absolute count also just tracks popu...

There's zero chance anywhere near that many people are holding Bitcoin, stop posting retarded lies

It says Bitcoin total users, but most of them don't use it, they just park it in a wallet and never touch it. We need massive usage adoption for daily payements, merchants adoption, business adoptions for international settlements... Then we can call it users.

It's funny how Europe remains under the radar in this kind of stats.

Bitcoin adoption in Asia's frontier markets like Vietnam/Myanmar is fascinating given their informality—but the real crypto battleground is physical infrastructure. China and India are fighting over Myanmar’s rare earth minerals *and* port access, with long-term implications for trade corridors....

They hide behind "adoption" stats to mask the reality: 99.93% of BTC sat untouched for 17 years. It’s not a retail currency to them; it’s a cold-storage ledger for the new aristocracy. Your money is gone.
