The Bitcoin Red Team used several AI models to audit 501 Bitcoin-related open-source projects: wallets, Lightning infrastructure, libraries, payment software, and more.
The announced results: 7,958 potential issues, including 1,280 considered critical or high-severity. About a quarter of these are even accompanied by proof-of-concepts demonstrating how to exploit them.
Be careful, however—this in no way means that Bitcoin itself has 8,000 vulnerabilities. The analysis focuses on hundreds of software programs built around its ecosystem, and the automated findings still need to be verified individually.
Already, nearly 30% of the findings have reportedly been forwarded to the relevant developers for validation and correction.
