I don’t believe that UBI would make everyone lazy. Maybe many but not all. You still want upward mobility beyond the basic. If there’s no means testing and no risk of losing your base income you don’t need to worry about picking up work.

Any form of UBI needs to print money to work, but exactly because it needs to print money it will eventually stop working or it will collapse the economy with inflation. And also, don't forget the inflationary tax, that primarily affects the poor.

Of the handful of UBI experiments I know of (in the US and Canada and the UK) it did not make people lazy. It primarily took away the old default of trapped in scarcity and survival mode. People started doing adult education courses, upleveling / upskilling; "doors appear where no doors were before"...

I can't believe how lazy and useless many people are whilst employed. If UBI incentivises these people to watch daytime soaps instead of obstructing the colleagues who actually want to work, its a W.
