Agree completely. Decades in Linux now and I run Debian almost exclusively. Everything else I try I always seem to run into some annoying edge case.

Telling people to run obscure distros is irresponsible unless you know they know their way around and are looking for an adventure.

That's so funny because I have used Ubuntu for the better part of the last decade and it always manages to kill itself during an update, or just for no reason whatsoever. . I've been much happier with NixOS on my desktop. I could maybe agree with you for a server though, my Ubuntu server from 2018 ...
