Coming out of the US food service industry, I have to empathize with the business on this one. I hate QR menus, but the pace of rising costs makes providing styled, professional-looking tangible menus...
Then offer menus that aren't styled or professional-looking, I don't like these either.
Just print a simple small sheet of paper with the menu, maybe? Or glue it to wall? I don't know. There are many ways of saving costs on menus that don't involve asking the customer to use their phone and their internet connection and open a web browser or who knows what else.
The online menus aren't styled or professional-looking either, they are often buggy and always super slow to load, or they don't fit the phone screen and you have to scroll a lot to read, including horizontally. That kind of stuff.
How much do these restaurants pay for the shittiest services that host their online menus for them anyway? I bet they do pay some money.
The next step is they will ask you to create an account just to see the menu on the website, or place your order on the website and pay with your soul.
